Afrikaans not equal to English at Stellenbosch University

According to an article on Netwerk 24, critics believe that Afrikaans will have to take the back seat and eventually fizzle out to complete distinction at the Stellenbosch University, regardless of the provisions made by the language policy for Afrikaans and sign language where it is practically possible.

Danie Rossouw, lawyer for AfriForum, stated that he is pleased that there is a bigger sense of oversight by the board over the re-evaulation process of the language.

He states that a part of the interdict which forces the university to comply with the 2014 language policy, which offers equal space for Afrikaans and English, has been granted.
